Trewhella’s 31 Points Leads Albion Past Olivet

OLIVET, Mich. – The Albion women's basketball team took care of business against Olivet, as they defeated the Comets, 70-59, at the Cutler Event Center.

Meghan Trewhella notched 31 points and nine rebounds. It was the junior's second 30-point game this season and most since her career-high 35 against Concordia Chicago in November.

The Britons took a 16-9 lead after the first quarter, with Trewhella scoring nine.

Albion kept building on their advantage in the second, stretching it to as many as 24 before taking a 37-18 lead into the locker room.

Olivet started the third on a 5-0 run and chipped away at the Albion lead, eventually making it an eight-point game with 3:20 left in the quarter. However, the Britons ended the stanza on an 8-2 run to keep their double-digit lead, 53-39.

The Comets staged a furious comeback in the fourth, going on a 16-4 run from 7:39 to 2:42 left in the period to make it a six-point game, 61-55.

Twice more, Olivet got to within six, but the Britons went 5-of-6 from the line to close out the game in the remaining minute and a half.

Ava Guilford complemented Trewhella's performance with eight points and 11 rebounds, while Olivet transfer Anna Honnen chipped in nine points.
