MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Albion women's track and field team competed in the two-day Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge from March 13-14 in South Carolina.
In the 100m prelims, Mia Czarnowski placed 27th, Paige Allis finished 43rd, Mars Wells took 52nd, and Koranay Rogers placed 61st. Melanie Symons finished 12th in the 800m (2:44.51), and Stellamia Aerts placed 23rd in the 100m hurdles (17.13).
The Britons found success in the relays, with the group of Czarnowski, Maggie Sorrelle, Caragh Dwyer, and Malea Wourman taking fourth in the 4x200m (1:44.95). Finishing eighth in the same event was the team of Lauren Fenstermaker, Mars Wells, Adalyn Mata, and Koranay Rogers (1:47.45).
In the 5000m, Serena Arnold placed 10th (20:18.03), and Lilli Vandervennet took 18th (21:59.59). In the field events, Alexis Ames and Riley Adams finished back-to-back in 28th and 29th in the javelin, while Leilani Casteele placed 33rd. Czarnowski also finished 17th in the long jump.
The Britons showed depth in the hammer throw, where Kaylee Kopulos, Morgan Hurd, and Casteele placed in the 11th, 12th, and 13th spots.
On day two, Czarnowski, Sorrelle, Allis, and Wourman placed sixth in the 4x100m (49.47), followed by Fenstermaker, Wells, Mata, and Rogers in 11th (51.81). In the 400m, Sorrelle led the way in 13th, followed by Mata (15th), Fenstermaker (26th), and Sarah Kozal (36th). Taylor Adams also placed 20th in the 1500m.
Caragh Dwyer took fourth in the 400m hurdles (1:06.01), and Brianna Bennett finished 11th (1:09.06). The duo later joined Kozal and Wourman to take fourth in the 4x400m relay (4:08.86).
To round out the scoring, Chelsea Thelen placed eighth in the high jump, and Aerts finished 11th in the triple jump.
Albion finished the event in tenth place with eighteen points.
