Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – Albion College scored on four consecutive possessions as it reeled off a 9-0 run to earn a 47-37 victory over Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.
It was the second win in a row for the Britons who reached the .500 mark in league play at 2-2. Albion will go in search of its third win in as many tries Saturday when it travels to Ohio for a non-league date with Defiance College.
Albion led 23-16 at halftime and it led by as many as nine early in the second half. Katie Ross knocked down a pair of 3-point shots as the Bulldogs trimmed the margin to 26-24 with 15 ½ minutes to play. Ross' third "three" of the second half gave Adrian a brief 29-28 lead.
Ross tied the score at 32 with a pair of free throws with 7:57 remaining, and Albion responded with baskets from four different players. Tanner Johnson (Charlotte) knocked down a jumper to give Albion the lead for good, and Nicole Dennis (St. Clair Shores/Lakeview) followed with an old-fashioned three-point play. Patty Rewa (Greenville) scored a jumper in the paint andLauren Epple (Williamston) produced a second-chance basket.
Albion never let Adrian have an opportunity to cut into the margin in the final minute as Dennis, Brett de Bear (Plymouth/Salem), and Johnson combined to go 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
Rewa produced 15 points and 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season, and de Bear added 13 points.
Ross led all players with 18 points.
