ANGOLA, Ind. – Albion College recovered from an early 15-point hole Wednesday and it went on hit six late free throws to earn a 62-58 victory over Trine University in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.

Ian Jackson, Chris Kent, and Scott Rogers scored five points apiece as Trine raced out to a 24-9 lead midway through the first half. The Thunder exchanged a pair of Albion turnovers for fast break baskets during the early going.

Baskets by Luke Walker (Cedar Springs) and Zach Hurth (Lansing/Lansing Catholic Central) trimmed the Trine lead to 10. Alex Harville (Clinton Township/De La Salle) tacked on a fast break layup and Bob Wernet (Rockford/Lowell) produced a pair of baskets off the bench to cut the Trine lead to 24-20 with 4:41 to play in the first half. Sean Hendon's "three" cut the Trine lead to 28-27 with three minutes on the clock and the Thunder went on to hold a 31-30 lead at halftime.

The second half featured eight ties and five lead changes and neither team led by more than four points. Lawrence Ridgell (River Rouge/Inkster) broke a 56-56 tie by hitting a pair of free throws with 36 seconds left. Walker added four more from the line.

Harville, who was 3-of-4 from 3-point range, was Albion's high scorer with 13 points. Ridgell added 12 points and eight rebounds and Hendon hit on 4-of-5 tries from the floor to finish with 11 points. Wernet enjoyed his finest collegiate outing with eight points.

Jackson scored a game-high 22 for Trine.
