Albion College was unable to hold a 2-0 lead in a 7-3 setback to Franklin (Ind) College in the first game of a four-game weekend baseball series.

John Gignac doubled to drive in Ben Gould in the second and Chuck DeClarke's fifth-inning single brought Dan Mills across the plate. DeClarke, Gignac, Gould, and Chris Kruppe finished with two hits apiece. Starting pitcher Mike Schypinski struck out 12 batters in 5.2 innings, but he was touched up four six runs over the fifth and sixth innings.

Albion returns to McDowell Field at noon Saturday to continue the series at Franklin with a doubleheader
