FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Gavin White and
Brendan Schultz have each been named to the All-MIAA second team.
Both players were instrumental in Albion earning the No. 4 seed in the MIAA Tournament — the first time they qualified since 2019. At the conclusion of the regular season, Albion notched 23 wins which is the most they have recorded since 2006.
White was consistently the top hitter in the Britons' lineup all season long. The sophomore first baseman hit a .387 average with 60 hits, 44 runs, 24 extra base hits and 36 RBI — all of which were tops on the team and top 10 in the MIAA. He also powered four home runs with a .484 on base and .613 slugging percentage. Additionally, White had a 13-game hitting streak from 4/3 to 4/30.
Schultz had poise and command on the mound primarily in the No. 2 starter role. The junior right hander posted a 3.78 ERA in 64.1 innings with 11 starts. He had a 5-0 record with a team-leading 77 strikeouts to 24 walks. Opponents hit just .195 off him as well.
On April 27, Schultz earned his first career MIAA Pitcher of the Week award after a dominant performance against Trine. In the Britons' 6-0 defeat of the Thunder, he threw a seven-inning complete game and gave up just one hit, no walks and struck out a career-high 11 batters. The one hit he gave up was the only base runner all game and came on the first pitch of the first inning.
