ALMA, Mich. – Albion College rallied from seven points down midway through the second half to take a lead with less than two minutes left, but the Britons were unable to hold on. Greg Silverthorn buried a three-point basket and Brandon Krause tacked on a pair of free throws as Alma College pulled out a 78-76 victory over the Britons.

D.J. Beckman hit the second of two free throws as Alma held a 63-56 lead with 9:40 to play.

Chris Hutton knocked down a couple of shots and a free throw to pull Albion within three. Jordan Herron trimmed the margin to one with a layup and Dakota Kazen pushed Albion to a 73-71 lead with a three-point basket.

Albion managed only three points in the final 1:40 on Hutton's old-fashioned three-point play.

Eric Evans, a first-year forward, was Albion's high scorer with 15 points. Hutton chipped in with 13 points and four assists, and Ryan Watson produced 11 points off the bench.

Krause led all players with 21 points.

Albion returns home Wednesday to challenge Adrian College in a 7:30 p.m. game at Kresge Gymnasium.
