de Bear records first double-double in loss to Adrian

Box Score

The Albion College women's basketball team was seeking its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) victory of the season Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately for the Britons, they would come up just shy, losing to Adrian College by a final score of 62-56.

Adrian, which came into the game 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in MIAA play, seemed to have an effective strategy for stifling the Albion women's offense early on. Brett de Bear was the only Briton to score until Oreyona Curry sliced through the Adrian defense for a layup at the 12:43 mark. de Bear ended the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Curry's layup sparked the offense and Albion rolled to a 25-17 lead capped by a pair of free-throws from senior guard Danielle Fraley at the five-minute mark — unfortunately for the Britons, the run wouldn't last. The Bulldogs would slowly whittle away at the Britons lead, cutting it down to just 2 points by halftime.

Fraley put up 11 points and 4 rebounds, while sophomore guard Mikaela Bromley added 9 points and 3 rebounds.

The Britons shooting struggles stood out again as the team shot just 32 percent from the field and 12 percent from beyond the arc. The team was impressive on glass, out-rebounding the Bulldogs 48-31.

The Albion women slide to 3-4 on the season and head to Puerto Rico to face Widener University on December 18th. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 PM and you can follow live game-stats on GoBrits.com!
