Late Rally Falls Short

ANGOLA, Ind. – Albion College scored the last three goals of the contest, but its late rally fell short in a 14-13 loss to Trine University in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse contest.

Ashley Glenn, who scored eight goals on the day, got Albion out to a 4-1 lead midway through the first half. Trine answered with three goals to tie the score at 4-4. The teams traded goals late in the first half – Albion got goals from Kadie Koolwick and Mackenzie Novak – and the score was tied, 6-6, at halftime.

Julie Wood and Glenn scored early in the second half as Albion surged to a 8-6 lead. Trine scored four in a row to go on top 10-8 and the Thunder never trailed again. Albion twice cut the margin to one on goals by Koolwick and Glenn.

Trine appeared to be in control, leading 14-10 with eight minutes remaining. Koolwick scored her third goal of the contest and Glenn scored twice, but Albion was unable to notch the tying goal.

Albion returns home Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest against Hope College.
