HILLSDALE, Mich. – Matt Melvin turned in the second-fastest steeplechase time in Albion College history and Mitch Clinton achieved a personal-best in the event as Briton athletes tuned up for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day by competing in the Gina Relays.
Melvin reached the finish in 9:18, lowering his best time from 9:36. Clinton set an Albion record for first-year runners and dropped 13 seconds off his personal record, coming through in a time of 9:50.
Mitchell Klingler finished 27th in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:17.15. Kendall Maddox completed his race in 16:39.42.
In the field, James McKee, Justin Wilson and Mike Schepper all finished in the top 10 in the javelin throw. McKee popped a throw of 159 feet, 9 inches on his second attempt to finish fifth in a field of 21 athletes. Wilson was sixth with a best throw of 155 feet, 6 inches. Schepper's best effort sailed 132 feet, 11 inches to gain 10th place.
