Men's Outdoor Track & Field Garners Five USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region Athletes

NEW ORLEANS, La. — Five Albion men's outdoor track & field athletes have garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Great Lakes Region honors.

Cooper Bright, Josiah Graddick, James Grey, Myles Hancock and Wyatt Putney received this recognition. The top-eight individuals in each event from eight regions earned the distinction.

Bright was recognized as an All-Region selection in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay — Albion's first since at least 2016 to earn the recognition in three different events. The senior and MIAA Most Valuable Track Athlete had the fifth-best 100m mark in the Great Lakes Region (10.49), second-fastest 200m time (21.14) and was on the 4x100m relay squad that tied for sixth (41.09) along with Graddick, Hancock and Putney — the first time since at least 2016 that an Albion relay team has earned All-Region honors. During the indoor season, Bright also was an All-Region recipient in the 60m dash.

Bright became the first Briton since 2014 to qualify for the NCAA Championships in the 200m after his record-breaking performance at the GVSU Last Chance Meet on May 10. He earned the 20th seed entering the national championships and won the event at the MIAA Championships.

Grey leaped 14.50m in the triple jump at Augustana's Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier to earn the fifth-furthest mark in the region. The senior also won the event at the MIAA Championships to garner first-team All-MIAA honors. Additionally, Grey was an All-Region honoree in the triple jump during the indoor season.
