ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — The Albion men's and women's track & field squads competed at Augustana's Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier. It is the final day of last chance meets across the country, as the NCAA Championships qualifying list will come out the following day.
On the men's side,
James Grey hit a PR in the triple jump with a mark of 14.50m that placed him third. Additionally, the 4x100m relay squad of
Myles Hancock,
Josiah Graddick,
Wyatt Putney and
Cooper Bright placed seventh in a time of 41.39.
Bright took 11
th in the 200m (21.69), while Putney was 40
th (22.50). Graddick notched 29
th in the 400m (50.28), and
Oghenefejiro Nakireru was 46
th (52.51).
Nine members of the women's squad represented the Britons.
Mia Czarnowski competed in both the 100m (12.53) and long jump (5.02m), finishing in 13
th and 17
th, respectively.
Lauren Fenstermaker and
Sarah Kozal also competed in both the 200m and 400m. Fenstermaker ran times of 27.28 and 1:01.26, and Kozal hit marks of 27.44 and 1:00.11.
Malea Wourman ran a 25.80 in the 200m, which was a PR and the fourth-fastest mark in program history.
Caragh Dwyer (1:05.28) and
Brianna Bennett (1:08.07) took 13
th and 17
th, respectively, in the 400m hurdles to round out the track event competitors.
Leilani Casteele and
Morgan Hurd each threw the hammer. Casteele threw 42.03m to take 17
th, while Hurd notched 18
th with a toss of 41.39m.
In the javelin,
Alexis Ames placed sixth (35.48m). She finished the season with PRs in each of her last three meets.
The top 22 individual times in each event and top 16 relay times in the two events qualify for the NCAA Championships. At the time of publication,
Cooper Bright is tied for the 22
nd best time in Division III, according to TFRRS.org.
