HOLLAND, Mich. – James McKee turned in Albion's best individual performance – finishing second in the javelin throw – on the first day of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track & Field Championship.
McKee produced eight of Albion's 14 points on the day when he launched the javelin 168' 10". Albion picked up five points from Josh Lowe, who finished fourth in the long jump and Justin Wilson who finished eighth in the javelin.
In preliminary heats Thursday, Alex Goricki qualified for the finals in both hurdles events. He posted the fourth-best time in the 110-meter distance (16.16 seconds) and fifth-best time in the 400 (58.07 seconds).
Justin Meredith will have the opportunity to run for the league title in the 100 meters after achieving the second-best qualifying time at 11.17 seconds. He also qualified sixth in the 200 with a Thursday race of 22.69 seconds.
