ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Mitchell Klingler broke the school record in the 5,000 meters for the second time this month as Albion College athletes continue building toward the April 12 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree.
Running Friday night in the Washington University Invitational, Klinger completed his race in 14:23.47, the sixth-best time in the meet. Paul Lewis also achieved a sub-15-minute time of 14:54.17.
Coach Lance Coleman said the Britons achieved 12 personal-best performances Friday.
Mitch Clinton led the distance crew in Saturday action, finishing fifth in the steeplechase. Clinton finished the race in 9:50.64.
Josh Lowe provided a point toward Albion's team score when he finished ninth in the long jump. He sailed 20' 4 ¼". Don Strite also finished ninth in the 800 meters, completing two laps around the track in 1:57.52, and the steeplechase (10:14.38).
In relays, Albion finished sixth in the 4x400. Kyle Braun, Ben Kolanowski, Colin Howard, and Brant McCollum race to a time of 3:30.26.
The April 5 Marv Frye Invitational in Delaware, Ohio, will be the Britons' final competition prior to the MIAA Jamboree.
