Surging Into League Play

Box Score

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College scored the first eight goals of the game and it coasted to a 17-4 victory over Augsburg (Minn.) College in non-league women's lacrosse action at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

It was the third win in as many tries for Albion as the Britons climbed back to .500 as it readies for a Wednesday date against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Trine University in Angola, Ind.

"This is the most complete game we've played this season, but we can't leave satisfied," Albion Coach Shanta Loecker said of the Britons' winning streak. "The league contests start Wednesday and that's a whole new ballgame."

Ashley Glenn scored four goals, Alyssa Glenn produced three goals and an assist and Kadie Koolwick and Mackenzie Novak tacked on three goals each, but Loecker was quick to add Isabel Fontana and Julie Wood to the list of Britons deserving recognition.

"Julie was getting roughed up, but she anchored the mental composure we've been talking about," Loecker said. "Julie stayed grounded under pressure. Isabel kept the defense active and involved."

Goalkeeper Victoria Della Pia stopped seven shots.
