Albion Unable To Solve Zone Defense

ALBION, Mich. – Allegheny's zone defense forced 28 turnovers as its walked out of Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium with a 19-5 victory over Albion in a non-league women's lacrosse contest.

The Allegheny strategy was to force Albion to attempt long passes. The passes would be difficult to complete on a regular day, but on a cloudy, 31-degree afternoon, the Britons were not able to mount a consistent attack.

Alyssa Glenn buried a free position shot as Albion took the early lead.

Alyssa Rapelje and Kelsey Rodgers combined for five goals as Allegheny forged a 7-1 lead midway through the first half. The Gators went on to lead 11-3 at halftime.

Ashley Glenn finished the day with three goals for Albion, Alyssa Glenn produced the other two. Goalkepper Victoria Della Pia collected 10 saves.

Albion will spend much of spring break enjoying warmer conditions in southern California. While there, the Britons will challenge Whittier and Chapman.
