ALMA, Mich. – Justin Meredith swept the 100- and 200-meter sprints, Josh Lowe scored in three jumping events, Mitchell Klingler, Paul Lewis and Mitch Clinton dominated the distance events as Albion College finished third in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Track & Field Jamboree.

Albion racked up 735 ½ points to finish 84 ½ behind second-place Calvin College. Hope College finished atop the team standings with 838 ½ points.

Meredith established winning times of 10.92 seconds in the 100 and 21.83 in the 200. He helped Albion score a third-place finish in the 4x100 relay (42.94 seconds).

Lowe sailed 21' 6" to win the long jump and he finished third in the triple jump (41' 6 ½") and high jump (clearing the bar at 6' ¾").

Klingler and Lewis were the top two runners in the 5,000, with Klingler completing the race in 14:58.39 for a 5 ½-second margin of victory. Lewis cruised to first place in the steeplechase, completing the race in 9:15.83 for a 14-second margin of victory. Klingler added a second-place finish in the 1,500, posting a time of 3:58.97. Clinton improved his personal best in the steeplechase, finishing third in 9:33.68 and he finished 10th in the 5,000.

Albion picked up 44 points in the 400 meters as Brant McCollum was fourth, Kyle Braun was eighth and Ryan Watson was 10th.

Alex Goricki led Albion in the hurdles, finishing second in the 110 (15.92 seconds) and fourth in the 400 (58.11 seconds). Dan Fick earned fifth place in the 400 (1:00.84).

Chris Ogston, who is making the transition from a football career in which he secured all-MIAA honors on the offensive line, achieved fourth place in the hammer throw with a heave of 138' 9". Mike Schepper, Nick Bertoia and Fick scored in the javelin.

Overall, Coach Lance Coleman noted the Britons achieved 24 personal-best performances.

Albion's next meet is the Al Owens Invitational in Allendale, Mich., April 19.
