DELAWARE, Ohio – Albion track & field coach Lance Coleman has every right to believe his men's team is well prepared for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree next Saturday after the Britons finished second in the Marv Frye Invitational.

Albion rolled up 119 ½ points to finish 34 ½ points behind host Ohio Wesleyan University.

"This is one of the better meets we go to each year," Coleman said. "We are very excited to finish second, It was a team effort. It is a good lead in to the jamboree."

Justin Meredith shined in the sprints, establishing a school-record time of 21.7 seconds to finish first in the 200 meters and winning the 100 meters in 10.92 seconds.

As usual, the Britons scored well in the distance events. Albion received 17 points from three runners in the 5,000 meters with Paul Lewis finishing first, Mitch Clinton third and Kendall Maddox eighth. Mitchell Klingler won the 1,500 meters, beating the second-place runner to the finish by half a second. Lewis added five points with a fourth-place finish in the 1,500. Blake Loudermilk and Jon Wylie finished fourth and eighth, respectively, in the steeplechase.

Personal records were achieved in the hurdles as Alex Goricki reached the finish in 15.98 seconds to finish fourth in the 110, and Dan Fick completed the 400 in 1:00.70. Goricki also finished third in the 400, reaching the finish in 58.30 seocnds.

Don Strite ran third in the 800 meters, reaching the finish in 1:57.69.

In field events, Nick Bertoia launched his third attempts in the javelin 147 feet, good for fourth place.

Making the transition from the offensive line, Chris Ogston finished seventh when he threw the hammer 140 feet, 2 inches.

Josh Lowe had a productive day in the jumping events, finishing third in the long jump (20' 9 ¼"), fifth in the triple jump (40' 11") and sixth in the high jump (six feet).

Alma is the host institution for the MIAA Jamboree.
