KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Right fielder Michael Fischbach went 3-for-7 with a double, a triple and three runs batted in Sunday as Albion College split its doubleheader with Kalamazoo College.

Fischbach delivered both of his extra-base hits and two RBI and pitchers Zach Maresh and Bill Radatz were excellent in relief as Albion gained a 10-4 win in game one. The Britons were unable to recover from a 9-0 deficit and it went on to take a 9-2 loss in game two.

Shortstop Davin Montgomery, who also collected three hits on Sunday, produced a pair of RBI hits – a first-inning single and a fifth-inning double – in game one. Fischbach attacked the right-center gap, slugging a RBI double in the third and a triple in the fifth. Shortstop Tony Cappelletty had his best offensive game of the season with three hits.

Center fielder Brendan Diamond, who walked every time he came to the plate in game one, came around to score twice.

Maresh, who picked up his second win of the season on the mound, allowed a run on five hits in 2.1 innings of work. Radatz worked two perfect innings.

Kalamazoo was retired in order in the first inning of game two, but it exploded for five runs in the second and four more in the third. Fischbach and catcher Spencer Bonofiglio delivered RBI hits in the fourth inning.

Albion won three of four in the weekend series with Kalamazoo to move its record to 9-13 overall and 5-7 against MIAA rivals. The Britons have a home non-league date against Spring Arbor at 4 p.m. Wednesday and a home league doubleheader against Calvin College at 2 p.m. Thursday.
