DELAWARE, Ohio – Albion College runners began competition in the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championship.
Justin Meredith, the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Track Athlete, and Paul Lewis, the MIAA champion in the steeplechase, failed to qualify for the finals in their respective events.
Meredith posted the 12th-fastest qualifying time in the 200 meters, reaching the finish in 21.60 seconds. He needed to run 21.43 to achieve a place among the top eight runners. Meredith will run again Friday in a qualifying heat of the 100 meters.
Lewis completed his collegiate career with a run of 9:46.09 in the steeplechase.
