Box Score OLIVET, Mich. – Albion erased Olivet's 11-point first-half lead to forge a tie at 58, but the host Comets were just a little better over the final six minutes to hand the Britons a 75-72 setback in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action.
Bre Kidd scored the last four points of as 9-0 run as Olivet opened a 34-23 lead with three minutes left in the first half.
Mikaela Bromley and Darian Payne knocked down three-point shots and Catie Neary added a basket to pull Albion within three, 34-31, at halftime.
The margin swayed between three and five points for the first 13 minutes of the second half. Erin Nelsom and Payne scored on consecutive possessions as Albion forged a tie at 58 with six minutes left.
Olivet never surrendered the lead as Jackie Harwood produced the Comets' next eight points. Harwood supplied a game-high 28 points off the bench.
Albion an opportunity to tie the score at 70 but it missed a pair of layups and it turned the ball over trailing by three, 71-68.
Albion finished the game shooting 48 percent from the field (25-of-52). Payne produced 19 points and nine rebounds. Oreyana Curry and Bromley chipped in with 18 and 11 points, respectively.
Albion will play its next four at home, starting with a 7:30 p.m. Wednesday date with Calvin College.
