Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – Corey Wheeler and Dakota Kazen spurred a 7-0 run as Albion College erased a second half deficit to eke out a 64-62 victory at Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.
Wheeler's 3-point basket forged a tie at 47 and Kazen produced a four-point play as the Britons seized a 51-47 lead with eight minutes left.
The backcourt scoring from Kazen, Wheeler and Robert Ryan opened space in the lane for Jordan Herron and Travell Oakes to score in the frontcourt. Oakes, who connected on all seven of his shots from the floor, finished with 15 points.
"Robert Ryan played a great floor game," Albion Head Coach Jody May said of the first-year guard from Chicago, who poured in a career-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. "He didn't hit every shot, but he hit some."
"We weren't hitting anything the first time we played Adrian and they kept sagging deeper and deeper in the lane," Albion Head Coach Jody May said, referring to the Britons' 56-46 setback to the Bulldogs during the first round of league play. "Because we hit some shots tonight some things opened up."
Kazen had the hot hand early as he scored the first six points of the game. He finished with a career-high 21, making 3-of-8 from 3-point range.
"We started the game with confidence and hit some shots," May said.
Rickey Jackson produced a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for Adrian.
Albion (11-11 overall, 4-7 MIAA) travels to Olivet College for a Valentine's Day matchup at 7:30 p.m.
