SAVANNAH, Ga. – It may have been the first outdoor meet of the season, but Albion College sprinter Justin Meredith wasn't far off his Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association winning time from a year ago.
Meredith, a senior from Bloomfield Hills, sprinted to a time of 10.94 seconds Saturday in the Tiger Orange and Blue Classic at Savannah State University. He reached the finish in 10.67 during the MIAA Field Day last May.
Meredith also led off the Britons 4x400 relay that finished first in its section with a time of 3:35.20. Mikal McKoy, Nick Bertoia and Ben Kolanowski completed the relay.
Ryan Watson finished eighth in the 800 meters, completing the race in 2:01.32.
In the field, Bertoia celebrated a personal best in the javelin throw. His last attempt sailed 48.23 meters, the equivalent of 158' 3". His best throw during the 2014 season was measured at 44.80 meters, the equivalent of 146' 11".
Jacob Maurer cleared the bar in the pole vault at 12' 2" to finish fourth. Zachary Osbourne cleared the high jump at 6' ½".

Albion will move on this week to Panama City Beach, Fla., where it will train during spring break for the 40th consecutive year. The team will complete its spring break trip with competition in the Southern Invitational at Birmingham, Ala., next weekend.
