A Career Night For Novak

Box Score

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Only a handful of Division III women's lacrosse players have scored more goals in a game this season than Albion College's Mackenzie Novak did Wednesday night.

Novak, a senior from Waterford, produced seven goals to carry the Britons to an 18-8 victory over Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association contest.

Novak's goals came in bunches. She scored three times in less than two minutes as Albion seized a 6-2 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half. Novak added two goals a minute apart as Albion gained a 9-5 lead late in the first half.

Cait Gaitley tacked on her second goal and Albion owned a 10-5 lead at halftime.

Ashley Glenn scored three times and Novak added two more goals as Albion pulled away in the second half.

Julie Wood also enjoyed a productive night with five points. She finished with two goals and three assists.

Kadie Koolwick, who entered the contest ranked ninth among Division III players in draw controls, picked up seven draw controls in addition to causing four turnovers.

Goalkeeper Victoria Della Pia collected 10 saves.

Albion (9-2 overall and 3-1 against MIAA rivals) will play its next three contests at home. The action begins at 3:30 p.m. Saturday against Saint Mary's College.
