Track Athletes Set Personal, Season Best Times

OLIVET, Mich. – When asked to assess his team's performance in the Olivet College Invitational, Albion College track coach Lance Coleman said he would have to go back to count the number of season- and personal-best performances.

Sean Thomas and Jeremy Shephard achieved personal best times in winning their respective sprinting events. Thomas knocked two-tenths of a second off his previous best in the 100 when he reached the finish line in 11.15 seconds, and Shephard completed the 200 in 22.65. Mikal McKoy was third in the 200 at 22.90.

Ryan Watson broke two minutes in the 800 meters for the first time and Colin Howard raced to a second-place time of 4:10.85.

In the field, Albion picked up personal best performances by Nick Bertoia and Dan Fick in the javelin throw and Chris Ogston in the discus throw.

Zach Osbourne and Josh Lowe were impressive in winning the high jump and long jump, respectively.

Alex Goricki placed first in the hurdles events, achieving time of 16.06 in the 110 and 58.73 in the 400.

Albion will tune up for the April 30-May 1 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day by entering the Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays next weekend.
