Justin Meredith, the 2014 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Runner, will look to defend his 100-meter dash title tomorrow. The senior posted third-fastest qualifying time on the first day of the MIAA Field Day, sprinting to a time of 11.11 seconds. Justin Ware joins his teammate in final, qualifying fifth with a time of 11.32.
Josh Lowe was third in the long jump with a season-best leap of 21' 9 ½ inches, adding siox points to Albion's total. The Britons collected 11 points Thursday to sit fifth in the team standings. Nicholas Bertoia's fifth-place finish in javelin throw produced five points.
Ryan Watson will try to add to Albion's point total as he attempts a bid in the 800 meter race after qualifying eighth in 1:55.93.
Alex Goricki will have a chance at winning two events tomorrow as he qualified in the hurdles events with times of 16.02 in the 110 and 57.77 in the 400. Mitchell McCord will accompany Goricki in the 400 race after qualifying sixth in 58.93 seconds.
Friday field events start with the men's and women's triple jump and women's shot put at 10 a.m. Running events begin with the steeplecase at 1:30 p.m.
