Josh Lowe provided Albion College's highlight on the second day of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day when he captured first place in the men's triple jump.
The senior from Jackson popped the best jump of his collegiate career – 13.51 meters (the equivalent of 44' 4") – to win the event by nearly six inches over Calvin College's Jon Cok. Lowe's previous collegiate-best jump was 44'. Lowe was joined by teammates Alex Goricki and Daniel Fick who finished in sixth and eighth place, respectively.
Lowe also scored a seventh-place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 6' 2 3/4". Zach Osborne cleared the same height, but he finished third based on fewest misses.
Justin Meredith was unable to repeat as MIAA champion in the 100 meters, settling for a third-place finish with a time of 11.05 seconds. Justin Ware placed in the event final as well, finishing fifth.
Goricki hauled in points in the hurdles events, finishing fourth in the 110 and fifth in the 400. Mitchell McCord managed to place seventh in the 400 with a time of 1.00.83 seconds.
Ryan Watson was able to turn in a good day, placing sixth in the 800-meter run and eighth in the 1,500. Mitch Clinton turned in a sixth-place finish in the steeplechase.
As a team, Albion scored 73 points to finish fifth.
