Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Albion College women's lacrosse program completed its finest season with an 18-0 loss to the University of Mount Union in a NCAA Division III Championship second round contest.
The Britons, Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament champions, completed the season with a 15-3 overall record. It was a record-breaking season for the Britons, too, with Mackenzie Novak scoring a season-record 83 points, and Kadie Koolwick collecting 139 draw controls and 67 ground balls. Ashley Glenn goes down as Albion's all-time leader in goals (209) and points (221).
"I'm so proud of these guys. It is the most fun, most committed team I've ever coached," Head Coach Shanta Loecker said. "We built the program, improved as individuals and built lacrosse in Michigan.
"The seniors (Glenn, Novak and Melissa Wilson) are going to be part of this program forever," Loecker added. "Whatever we accomplish, they will be part of it."
Albion controlled the draw seven times in the first half, and Head Coach Shanta Loecker was aware of the importance of maintaining possession for as long as possible. Cait Gaitley recorded Albion's first shot on goal 10 minutes into the second half. Julie Wood and Lauren Wiegand also placed shots on goal and Ashley Glenn rattled a shot off the post.
