Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Albion College managed just eight kills over the final two sets in a 25-22, 25-9, 25-7 loss to Saint Mary's College.
The loss snaps Albion's four-match winning streak and leaves the team 17-11 overall and 6-9 against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rivals heading into its final match of the season – a 5 o'clock Saturday home date against Adrian College.
Taylor Rosenthal and Ami Milligan combined on a block and Lauren Outwater terminated a point as Albion scored four in a row to seize a 18-17 lead in the first set.
Meaghan Gibbons' kill got Saint Mary's on serve and Emily Peppers served up a pair of aces as the Belles scored five in a row to go in front, 22-17. Rachel Bonek blocked Outwater for the final point of the set.
Saint Mary's scored the first 10 points of the second set and it surged to a 14-5 lead in the third.
Kelsey Gustafson, a first-year outside hitter, led Albion with five kills. Outwater and Rosenthal added four kills apiece. Setter Ami Milligan achieved a double-double with 14 assists and 12 digs.
Gibbons produced 15 kills, eight digs and three blocks for Saint Mary's.
