HOLLAND, Mich. – Third-ranked Hope College outscored Albion College 23-8 in the second quarter and that was enough for the Flying Dutch to take a 71-53 victory in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball game.

Oreyana Curry scored five points and Sophia Sanfilippo produced four off the bench as Albion trailed 15-13 after the first quarter.

Maura McAfee scored five points as Hope started the second quarter on an 11-0 run. Hope went on to lead by as many as 19 before settling for a 38-21 halftime lead.

The second half was nearly even with Hope outscoring Albion, 33-32.

Darian Payne led Albion with 16 points and she finished a rebound shy of a double-double. Curry finished with nine points and six assists, while Catie Neary produced eight points.

Albion, 9-14 overall and 5-9 against MIAA rivals, will play its final two games at home. The Britons have a 6 o'clock Wednesday game against Adrian College and Payne and fellow senior Emily DeWaters will be recognized prior to the 3 o'clock game against Saint Mary's College next Saturday.
