Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – Lizzy Jones scored three times in the second half to lift Berry College to a 10-7 victory over Albion College in non-league women's lacrosse action.
Shannon Kahl and Julie Wood scored and Kadie Koolwick and Lauren Wiegand finished free position shots to stake Albion to a 4-1 lead midway through the first half.
Berry rallied to tie the score at 4-4 as Ashley Kesserling scored twice and Kelsey McAnnally tacked on a goal and an assist.
Kahl's second goal boosted Albion to a 5-4 lead at halftime.
Kesserling scored her third goal of the day and she dished out an assist to lead Berry on a three-goal binge over the first nine minutes of the second half.
Kahl's third goal of the day – set up by Koolwick's assist – pulled Albion within one, 7-6, midway through the second half, but that was as close as the Britons would get. Jones scored the next two goals as Berry protected its lead.
Albion goalkeeper Victoria Della Pia finished with 13 saves, and Taylor Nelson led the Britons with seven ground balls.
Albion will make its home debut next Saturday (March 5) when it takes on Elmhurst (Ill.) College on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium. The draw is set for noon.
