Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Julie Wood scored six goals and dished out an assist to lead Albion College to a 17-3 victory over Elmhurst College in a non-league women's lacrosse match on the Schmidt-Fraser Field inside Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.
Wood scored three times, and Kadie Koolwick added two scores as Albion surged to a 6-0 lead 8 ½ minutes into the contest. Cait Gaitley scored twice and Shannon Kahl and Wood tacked on goals as the margin ballooned to 10-0 with 11 ½ minutes left in the first half.
Albion went on to take a 12-2 lead at halftime. "One of our key words is consistency," Albion Head Coach Shanta Loecker said after her team improved to 1-3 on the year. "We did a good job of staying mentally engaged and focused."
Gaitley and Wiegand finished with three goals apiece for the Britons. Koolwick and Alex Radzville added two goals apiece.
"We have worked on fast break formations. I was excited to see us put that into action and get scoring opportunities," Loecker said."
Koolwick maintained possession by winning the draw control 12 times and scooping up four ground balls.
Albion will fly to California tomorrow ahead of spring break games against University of Redlands and Occidental College.
