Jephte Jean-Claude earned first place in two events to lead Albion College track & field athletes in the Aquinas Open Friday night.

The sophomore sailed 43' 10 ¾" in the triple jump and raced past the field in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.68 seconds.

First-year distance runner James Weekley also produced a first place finish in the 3,000 meters at 9:18.30.

Finishing second in their respective events were Andrew Strzelecki in the weight throw at 46' 5 ½" and Kiehl Smith in the 800 meters at 1:59.59. Smith and Brant McCollum, who placed in the 400 meters, helped Albion to a good run in the 4x400 relay.

Rayshawn Robinson also did well in the jumping events, finishing third in the triple and fourth in the long.

Albion also sent a select group of distance runners to the Big Meet at Grand Valley State University. Andrew Bill, who qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in the fall, achieved a personal record in the 5,000 when he completed his race in 15:13.63. Mark Klingel and Andrew Wittland also reached personal best times as they were separated by five hundredths of a second at the finish with both completing their races in 15:43.

Albion will travel to Hillsdale College next Saturday for a tune up meet prior to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championship on Feb. 25.
