Box Score ALBION, Mich. – Ohio Northern University goalkeeper Shannen Larsen Van Alstine collected 15 saves in the first half, but credit Albion College for sticking with its attack Wednesday night.
Shannon Kahl and Abby Sheklow scored three goals each in the second half as Albion pulled away for a 15-5 victory in the non-league women's lacrosse contest at the Davis Athletic Complex.
Sheklow finished with five goals, bringing her season total to 15, but Coach Shanta Loecker said the way she defended to keep Ohio Northern from advancing the ball to the offensive zone was just as impressive.
Loecker added Natalia Catanzarite, Paige Dredge and Cassandra Reuschlein also played an important role in bringing the team game together.
Kahl stuffed the box score with four goals, four draw controls and six ground balls.
Cait Gaitley (three goals) and Jade Barrett (two goals and an assist) and Reuschlein (one goal) completed Albion's scoring. Barrett added six draw controls and three ground balls.
When Ohio Northern did reach the offensive zone, Taylor Nelson (four caused turnovers) and Jenina Villabroza (11 saves) were there to make the stop.
Albion (4-2) will travel to Naperville, Ill., for a Sunday date with North Central College. It is the Britons final non-league contest before starting Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action with a March 31 home date against Trine University.
