OLIVET, Mich. – Head Coach Shanta Loecker was pleased with how her team controlled the pace of the game as Albion College tuned up for the stretch run of the regular season with a 21-2 victory over Olivet College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's lacrosse game.

Albion (8-4 overall and 4-1 against MIAA rivals) has three games left in the regular season. The Britons have home dates with Kalamazoo College (April 17 at 7 p.m.) and Saint Mary's College (April 27 at 7 p.m.) and a road trip to Hope College next Saturday at 1 o'clock.

Playing on a chilly, rainy afternoon, the Britons built a 10-goal lead to start the running clock with 17 ½ minutes left in the first half.

Cait Gaitley scored 10 goals to match Ashley Glenn for the most scored by an Albion player in a game. Glenn put 10 in the net against Alma College five years ago.

Gaitley added two assists to bring her career total to 186 points, moving her into a tie with Mackenzie Novak (2012-15) for second-most all-time at Albion. Gaitley is 26 shy of moving past Glenn on Albion's all-time points list.

Gaitley received support from Cassandra Reuschlein (three goals, two assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover), Shannon Kahl (three goals and five draw controls), Lauren Wiegand (two goals, assist, six draw controls and two caused turnovers) and Abby Sheklow (goal, three assists, three ground balls and a caused turnovrer).

Jessica Mooney and Kierstin Rose tacked on their first goals of the season.

Taylor Nelson led the defense that limited Olivet to five shots. She forced two turnovers and scooped six ground balls.

Kate Mullins made her debut at goalkeeper for Albion. She finished with two saves, one in each half.
