HOLLAND, Mich. – Adam Ditri and Andrew Wittland combined to score 16 points for Albion College in the 5,000 meters on the second day of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Track & Field Championship.
Ditri earned the gold medal, completing his race in 15:13.71. Wittland was third, crossing the line in 15:25.57.
Albion finished fourth in the team standings, totaling 129 points. The Britons finished 1 ½ points behind Hope College in the race for third place. Calvin College won the MIAA championship with 180 points, followed by Trine University at 137 ½ and Hope at 130 ½.
The best story of the day came from the javelin throw where Rayshawn Robinson, recently cleared for activity after an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the football season, finished second. He sent the javelin 157' 10" to finish less than two feet shy of the winning throw of 159' 1" set by Hope's Joshua Izenbart.
Jephte Jean-Claude also won a silver medal, finishing as the runner up in the triple jump. Jean Claude sailed 47' ¼" and he finished 1 ½" behind John Hamilton from Adrian College.
The Britons netted 19 points in the triple jump as Marcus Freeman was fourth, Trevor Knowles was fifth and Richard Annorat was seventh.
Kiehl Smith secured Albion's final medal of the day, taking bronze when he finished the 1,500 meters in 4:02.36.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
