The Britons broke open a 5-5 tie with four runs in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth to defeat St. Mary's University (Minn.) 11-7 Monday in Auburndale, Fla. In their opener Saturday against Wittenberg, the Britons scored six times in the eighth to claim an 11-7 win.

Also, for the second straight game, Albion rode the sizzling hitting of senior catcher Jordyn Finney, who went two for four, scored three times and knocked in two runs. In his frst two games, Finney has five hits in eight at-bats, has scored four runs and driven in six.

"I have been proud of how we've competed when our backs have been against the wall in the first two games," coach Scott Carden said. "We haven't played our best baseball but we have been finding ways to win games."

On Monday, the Britons took control in the seventh inning on a two-run single fron junior first baseman Andrew Arszulowicz and RBI singles from sophomore Sean Haddlesey and senior Riley Stesiak.

In the eighth, Finney hit a two-run homer to up the lead to 11-5 and that was enough for reliever Bret Chesla to close it out.

Stesiak also had a big game offensively for the Britons, going three for four with two runs scored and three RBI. He also added a solo home run in the sixth. Sophomore Justin Charron also scored three runs.

The Britons are back in action Tuesday when they play Waynesburg Uiversity (Pa.) in Winter Haven, Fla.
