ALBION, Mich. -- In a matchup between two Top 10 teams, the No. 8 Albion College men's basketball team fell to No. 6 Trine University, 76-70. Costly turnovers and foul trouble hurt the Britons in their final non-conference test of the season.

Cortez Garland (26 points) and Caden Ebeling (25 points) combined for 51 of Albion's 70 points.

Trailing 22-14, Albion worked its way back to tie the contest at 22. In that stretch, Ebeling scored six points to knot the game with 8:16 remaining in the first half.

Trine, looking to stay unbeaten, used a small run to pull ahead by 10 points with 3:30 before halftime. The Britons were able to slightly close the gap, trailing 37-29 at the break.

The Thunder held all of the momentum coming out of the half, outscoring the hosts, 15-7 in the first nine minutes. A triple from Jaylen Ross momentarily stopped Trine, but the Thunder went right back to work, building their lead to as many as 18 points.

Albion quietly made a comeback, led by the hot hand of Garland from deep. The junior was a near-perfect 6 of 7 from beyond the arc.

Albion's push came slightly too late, as Trine held on for the lead and made free throws down the stretch.

Senior Juwan Perry accounted for a team-high five assists. Garland added four.

Albion committed 24 turnovers, which led to 27 Trine points. The Thunder also controlled the inside game, scoring 42 points in the paint compared to Albion's 30.
