Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. -- A 10-point day from Jace Conley helped the Albion College men's lacrosse team cruise to a 20-7 win over Adrian College on Saturday afternoon. Conley led all scorers with six goals and four assists. Freshman Ethan Rottell added three goals and four assists.
With the win, Albion improves to 5-1 overall.
Sam Puzevic scored just 63 seconds into the contest, giving the visitors a quick 1-0 lead. Adrian responded with three straight goals before the Britons went on an 8-0 run to close out the first quarter.
Conley scored four times and added three assists in the first quarter. In that offensive run, the Britons got goals from Seth Repkey, Brock Yabs, Rottell and Puzevic. Albion took a 9-3 lead heading into the second quarter.
The offense did not let up, as Albion increased its lead to 13-4. Rottell and Puzevic added to their scoring totals, while Timmy Salinas and Eddie Symons each tallied goals. The visitors closed out the half with three more goals in the final seven minutes. Conley and Rottell each scored along with a goal by Gerald Haadsma in his first game this season.
Albion held a sizeable 16-4 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, Yabs and Gabe Rothman registered goals for the Brits. The final two Albion goals came in the fourth quarter by Repkey and Conley.
Haadsma picked up a game-high 10 ground balls in the win. The Britons caused 11 turnovers, two coming from Bear Nelson.
Jack Gogonis (5-1) earned the win, making eight saves for Albion.
"The season is young and we have a lot of work to do," said head coach Jake DeCola. "This year you never know if it is going to be your last game at any time … It was good to play against a well-coached team today and have some success."
Albion leads the MIAA in goals (113), assists (69) and man up goals (22). Defensively, the Britons lead the league in caused turnovers with 97. Junior Joey Tatar has a MIAA-leading 24 caused turnovers.
The 10 points is the second most by Conley in a game. His career-high is 12, which also came against the Bulldogs on Apr. 26, 2019.
The Britons return to their home field on Wednesday for their final non conference game of the year. Albion will host Calvin for a 7 p.m. start.
