GAME ONE: Albion 10 Olivet 6

After the Comets scratched across a run in the top of the first, Albion answered by scoring a pair in the bottom of the frame. Sean Haddlesey doubled to center to lead off the game and moved to third on a bunt base hit by Drew Olszewski. One batter later, Huang grounded out to third, plating Haddlesey. Mark Lauro laced a double to right, driving in McGann and giving the Brits a 2-1 lead after one.

Olivet added three unearned runs in the top of the third to regain the lead.

After two more Comet runs in the sixth, Albion erupted for eight runs in the home half of the frame.

McGann led off the frame with a single up the middle and moved to second on a Lauro walk. On his 22nd birthday, Andrew Arszulowicz doubled down the left field line, bringing in both runners.

With Arszulowicz on third, Dylan Perry did his job by rolling over a groundout to second, scoring the runner.

Sophomore Patrick Merolla followed with an opposite field hit and stole second. After Haddlesey was walked Olszewski knocked a double down the left field line to score Merolla. Following a Comet pitching change, Huang welcomed the Olivet reliever with a two run single to right.

McGann continued his hot hitting with a single to right center, driving in Huang. With McGann on second, Justin Charron drove a pinch hit single through the 5-6 hole, capping off the scoring.

McGann, a freshman, was a perfect 4 for 4 in the game. Korte (2-2) tossed 5.2 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out two.

GAME TWO: Olivet 3 Albion 2

The Britons got on the board first with a leadoff inside the park home run off the bat of Haddlesey. Two innings later, Albion doubled its lead thanks to another RBI single by McGann.

In the fifth, Olivet plated two runs on a single coupled with an error. In the top of the seventh, a triple followed by a single through the right side drove in the go-ahead run.

Albion had its chances in the bottom of the seventh, loading the bases with no outs. The Britons were unable to push across the tying run, settling for the split in the conference opener.

With three RBI on the day, Huang is tied for the MIAA lead with 16.

Albion moves to 5-7, 1-1 while Olivet is now 3-9, 1-1.

The two teams will square off tomorrow in Olivet. Game times are scheduled for 1 and 3 p.m.
