Box Score ALBION -- One month ago, a sluggish Albion College women's lacrosse team suffered a non conference loss to Kalamazoo College. On Tuesday evening, the Britons avenged that loss with a 22-14 win over the Hornets -- this one counting towards the MIAA standings.
Senior Carly Schwarz tied a career-high with seven goals and dished out one assist. Destiny Okon also registered eight points with six goals and two assists. Chrystelle Lopez, the reigning MIAA Offensive Player of the Week, added five goals and one assist.
Albion improves to 8-2 overall, 3-0 in the MIAA.
With the score knotted at three, Albion rattled off four straight goals. Schwarz, Lopez, Okon and another by Schwarz pushed the Britons ahead, 7-3 with 21 minutes remaining in the first half.
After the Hornets cut the Albion lead to one, Lopez's back to back goals increased the lead back to three. Albion scored four of the next five goals heading into the half, with two by Schwarz one by Okon and another by Abby Sheklow. The run inflated the lead to 14-8 at the half.
Albion kept all of the momentum through the second half, not letting the Hornets to within four goals throughout the period.
Lopez caused three turnovers in the game. Albion was a near-perfect 14 of 15 on the clear. Junior Alexis Robinson was phenomenal in goal, making 18 saves.
The Britons will travel to Hope College -- the only other team to defeat them this season -- on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
