ANGOLA, Ind. -- On Saturday, the Albion College men's track and field team claimed fifth place at the MIAA Indoor Championships.
Kejuan Frazier defended his MIAA title for the third straight season in the shot put, with a toss of 16.54m. Frazier also claimed fifth in the weight throw (15.00m).
It was a clean sweep for Albion, taking the top three spots in the triple jump. Senior Marcus Freeman won the event (13.82m). Just behind him in second was classmate Trevor Knowles (13.75m) and Armund Gordon Jr. took third (12.94m).
In the weight throw, Xavier Aikens claimed second place with a throw of 16.15m.
Freshman Derrelle Murray had an impressive showing, taking fourth in the shot put (14.01m).
Knowles added a fourth place finish in the high jump with a jump of 1.90m and took fifth in the long jump with a jump of 6.53m. Additionally, Gordon Jr. finished fourth in the long jump, recording a jump of 6.56m. DaMario Chapman was another Briton who landed in the top eight in the event, finishing seventh.
The distance medley relay team of Jayden VanMaurick, Jason Bidpond, Juan Lopez and Nathaniel Jennings finished sixth.
With a time of 9.33, DeVonte James finished seventh in the 60m hurdles.
Jeffrey Davis took eighth in the 60m dash with a time of 7.31. He also finished seventh in the 200m dash while Chapman was sixth in the same event.
The 4x4 relay squad of Chapman, Davis, Bigpond and Godron Jr. rounded out the night with a fifth place finish, clocking in at 3:40.52.
Albion concludes the indoor season and will look towards the outdoor track and field season.
