FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — A record six individual Britons earned All-MIAA honors since the conference started sponsoring indoor track & field in 2016.
James Grey was the lone Albion athlete on the first team, while
Cooper Bright,
Josiah Graddick,
Van Norman,
Oghenefejiro Nakireru and
Logan Vining received second-team recognition.
Grey had a memorable performance at the MIAA Championships. The senior became the fifth athlete in program history to win the indoor triple jump title, leaping a career-best 14.11m. He also placed seventh in the high jump (1.81m, career best) and 13th in the long jump (6.13m).
Bright also had two career performances at the MIAA Championships. The senior and former Albion basketball player placed third in the 200m (22.04) and fourth in the 60m (6.85) — both personal best times. He was also on the second-place 4x400m relay squad. On January 20, Bright secured MIAA Track Athlete of the Week honors following a second-place finish in the 60m and winning the 4x200m relay at Heidelberg's Larry Brown Invitational.
Graddick was also a member of the second-place 4x400m relay team. The senior also finished seventh in the 400m (51.54) and 10th in the 200m (22.62).
Norman earned personal bests in both the shot put (15.59m) and weight throw (13.80m) at the MIAA Championships. The sophomore and member of the Albion football team was runner-up in the shot put and 11th in the weight throw. Norman also won MIAA Field Athlete of the Week on January 20 with a runner-up showing in the shot put at Heidelberg's Larry Brown Invitational.
Nakireru and Vining capped off the members of the second-place 4x400m relay squad. Both juniors, Nakireru was also 13th in the 400m (52.95), while Vining placed fourth in the 800m (1:59.31).
