ALBION -- In heartbreaking fashion, the Albion College women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 13-12 decision to Hope College. Destiny Okon, Chrystelle Lopez and Carly Schwarz each scored hat tricks for the Britons. With her three goals, Lopez eclipsed the 100 career goal mark.

Less than a minute in, Hope tallied two goals for a quick advantage. Senior Kierstin Rose got the Brits on the board with a goal just two minutes later. After another Hope score, Lopez scored her first goal of the afternoon on a free position shot.

Three Hope goals were answered by a pair of Okon goals. The Flying Dutch tacked on two more, appearing to take a four goal lead into the half. With just five seconds on the clock, senior Abby Sheklow's shot rattled in, cutting the deficit to 8-5 at the break.

Hope scored first out of the half before Albion began chipping away. Goals from Schwarz and Alexa Wild put the Britons within two. Another Flying Dutch score was answered -- this time with three straight by Albion. Two goals from senior captain Schwarz was capped off by a free position goal by Okon, knotting the game at 10 with 17:09 remaining.

The visitors took an 11-10 advantage. A free position shot by Lopez evened things back up at 11. Once again, a Hope goal pushed the Flying Dutch out in front, but Lopez had an answer, this one for the historic goal, tying the game at 12 with just over six minutes on the clock.

A Hope goal on a free position shot vaulted the visitors back in fron with 5:36 to play. Albion was unable to find the equalizer down the stretch, dropping the non conference contest.

Lopez and Schwarz caused four turnovers each. Alexis Robinson (2-2) made nine saves in goal. Albion was five for eight on free position shots.

The Britons are back in action Tuesday night at Adrian. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
