ALBION -- Back on their home field for the first time in nearly two years, the Albion College baseball team suffered an opening day sweep, falling to Kalamazoo College 10-1 and 11-1.

GAME ONE

The Brits got on the board first in game one. Sean Haddlesey ripped a single up the middle, and Kellan Huang followed with a two-bagger to left center, plating Haddlesey.

Kalamazoo answered with a six run second, taking a 5-1 lead early in the seven inning contest. The Hornets tacked on four unearned runs in the top of the fifth to keep a commanding lead.

Haddlesey was 2 for 3 in the loss.

Kevin Korte (0-1) took the loss on the bump. The Britons pitching staff allowed six walks to the Hornet hitters.

GAME TWO

Kalamazoo scored a run in four of the first five innings to hold a slim 4-0 lead after five. The visitors used a two-run sixth to break the game open and keep Albion out of reach.

Huang was 2 for 4 in the loss with a double. Matt McGann added a pair of hits, one for extra bases, for Albion.

Huang walked to lead off the bottom of the eighth and moved to second on a wild pitch. Mark Lauro was hit by a pitch to put two runners on for Andrew Arszulowicz. The senior delivered, sending a double to left and driving in Huang.

The Britons could not capitalize on opportunities, leaving 11 runners on base and striking out 13 times.

On Saturday, Albion is scheduled to host Hope College for a non conference doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
