ALMA, Mich. -- The Albion College track and field teams had a great showing at Alma College on Friday, as the men's team won with a team score of 170, and the women's team came in second scoring 137 points.
Albion took home the top spots in both the men's and women's triple jump, with Ashley Dubois (10.03m) and Marcus Freeman (12.80m) earning the wins. Laura Tuttle came in second on the women's side as well.
After breaking the school record a week ago, Anna Albaugh won the hammer throw. On the men's side, Xavier Aikens won the event, as the Britons took the top three spots, with Kejuan Frazier finishing second and James Mida taking third. Sylvia Upthegrove placed third in the women's hammer throw.
Frazier's reign in the shot put continued, winning with a throw of 15.72 meters. Derrelle Murray took third while Mida finished sixth. Frazier also won the discus with a throw of 44.21 meters. Mida was just behind him in second and Murray finished fourth. On the women's side, Albaugh took third and Upthegrove placed fifth in discus and the pair took fourth and fifth in the shot put.
Junior Nathaniel Jennings won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.90. Ikenna Achara took fourth in the event, finishing in 2:06.17.
Albion took home the top three spots in the men's 100 meter dash, with DaMario Chapman winning with a time of 11.37. Jeffrey Davis's time of 11.66 landed him second, and Jared Council took third. Davis also placed second in the 200 meter run and Chapman finished third.
Tuttle won the women's 400 meter run, clocking in at 1:02.10. Becca Ross took third in the event with a time of 1:03.91.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Nayaisha Edmond took first place with a time of 16.33. Senior Hannah Almhiemid was sixth in the same event. Edmond also placed frith in the 400 meter hurdles, with Tuttle taking third.
Dior Love finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and third in the 400 meter hurdles. Jason Bigpond added a fifth place finish in the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Ross, Dubois and Sarah Stone took 3-4-5 in the women's 200 meter dash. The women's 4x4 relay team of Elena Welker, Ross, Tuttle and Lauren McDowell was second with a time of 4:26.24. On the men's side, the quartet of Davis, Jennings, Armund Gordon Jr. and Chapman collected third.
In the 1500 meter run, Eryn Lewis and Noah Flint both placed fifth.
McDowell won the long jump with a jump of 5.36 meters as Welker finished second. On the men's side, Gordon Jr. won the event with Chapman taking fourth.
Welker added a third place finish in the javelin and a fourth place finish in the high jump. Stone was fourth in javelin as well for Albion. Almhiemid took sixth in the high jump, William Campbell placed fourth in the javelin and Gordon Jr. placed fourth in the high jump.
Both teams will be in action next Saturday at Wittenberg University.
