SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- The Albion College men's and women's track and field teams each took second place at the Wittenberg quad on Saturday afternoon. The women scored 82.5 points while the men's team finished with 69.
Below is a listing of top-six finishers on the afternoon.
Freshman DaMario Chapman won the long jump with a jump of 6.39 meters. The freshman won the 200 meter dash and also placed second in the 100 meter dash.
Freshman Nayaisha Edmond won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.53, just .01 better than the second place finisher.
Anna Albaugh won the shot put with a throw of 11.80 meters. She also took first in the discus with a throw of 36.03 meters and won the hammer throw with a throw of 46.15.
The men's throwers faired extremely well on the day. In the shot put, Kejuan Frzier won the event with a throw of 16.22 meters. In the same event, Derrelle Murray took second, James Mida was fourth and Eddie Hines took fifth.
In the discus, Albion swept the top five spots with Frazier winning, Murray taking second, Xavier Aikens finishing third, Mida in fourth and Hines in fifth.
Aikens won the hammer throw while Mida finished second in the event. Frazier placed third and Murray finished sixth in the event.
Sylvia Upthegrove was sixth in the shot put, third in hammer and fifth in discus.
In the high jump, Elena Welker tied for third with a jump of 1.47 meters. Senior Hannnah Almhiemid placed sixth with a jump of 1.42 meters. Welker also took third in the long jump as Lauren McDowell placed second in the same event.
McDowell also won the 200 meter dash, crossing the line in 27.03.
Jason Bigpond won the men's 400 meter hurdles.
Jeffrey Davis was fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.76.
In the 400 meter dash, Becca Ross placed second with a time of 1:03.08.
Ashley Dubois (second) and Laura Tuttle (fourth) both had good showings in the triple jump.
Tuttle, Edmond and Welker took 2-3-4 in the 400 meter hurdles.
Sarah Stone took fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.91.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Ross, Welker, Tuttle and McDowell came in third place.
Eryn Lewis was sixth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:23.79.
Jocelyn Singer and Sarah Stone took third and fifth in the javelin.
The teams will be back in action on May 6 at the MIAA Field Day.
