Box Score 2 ANGOLA, Ind. -- A masterful performance on the mound by Drew Olszewski helped the Albion College baseball team salvage a split on Sunday afternoon. After a rough game one, the Britons bounced back in the nightcap, led by a complete game from the senior.
GAME ONE: Trine 14 Albion 1
The story was all Trine in the opener, as the hosts scored 13 of their 14 runs in the first three innings.
Albion's lone run came in the top of the sixth when Olszewski lifted a sac fly, driving in Sean Haddlesey.
GAME TWO: Albion 6 Trine 1
With two on and two out in the third, Olszewski helped his own cause by smoking a single to left, driving in Braeden Emery for a 1-0 lead. After Kellan Huang drew a walk, Justin Charron put the Britons up by two by drawing a bases loaded walk.
Emery lifted a solo shot in the fourth to build the lead to 3-0 -- his first collegiate long ball. The Britons tacked on an unearned run in the fourth, thanks to an RBI single by freshman catcher Matt McGann.
Albion got two insurance runs in the top of the seventh. Olszewski led off the inning with a double and stole third. He came around to score on a triple off the bat of Charron. The next hitter, McGann, lifted a sac fly to drive in Charron and give the Brits breathing room.
In seven innings, Olszewski allowed just three hits and struck out nine.
Charron, Olszewski and Gabe Mata all had multi-hit games in the win.
Albion will travel to Hope College on Friday to begin a four-game series. Game times are scheduled for 3 and 5 p.m.
