ALBION, Mich. -- On Senior Day, the Albion College track and field teams had great showings in their home meet. The men's side won with a team score of 188 and the women's team finished second totaling 102 points on the day.
Below is a listing of the top six finishers.
Junior Anna Albaugh set a school record winning the hammer throw with a toss of 46.37 meters. She also placed second in the discus with a throw of 36.44 meters.
On the men's side, the Britons took the top four spots in the hammer throw. Xavier Aikens won the event with a throw of 46.24 meters. Jonas Manning was just behind him in second with a toss of 44.70 meters. James Mida took third (43.08m) and Mason Darden was fourth (42.57m).
Kejuan Frazier kept his crown in the shot put with a throw of 15.82 meters. Derrelle Murray took third with a throw of 15.09 meters. Mida finished fifth in the event with a toss of 12.29 meters.
Frazier also won the discus with a throw of 45.04 meters. Murray was just behind him in third (40.49m) and Mida was fifth (39.35m).
Lauren McDowell and Elena Welker went 1-2 in the long jump with jumps of 5.22 meters and 4.92 meters. Welker, a sophomore, took home second in the high jump with a jump of 1.51 meters.
Nayaisha Edmond won the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.29. Senior Hannah Almhiemid placed fourth with a time of 17.80. Edmond also took third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:10.06) and Welker was sixth (1:13.45).
The Britons took home the top three spots in the men's triple jump. Marcus Freeman -- the indoor champion -- won the event with a jump of 14.00 meters. Behind him was Trevor Knowles with a jump of 13.31 meters. Armund Gordon Jr. was third with a jump of 12.96 meters.
Junior Nathaniel Jennings won the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:13.68. He also won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.02. Ikenna Achara finished fourth in the 800 meter run, clocking in at 2:08.57 and sixth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:23.91.
With a spectacular finish in the final leg, the 4x100 team of DaMario Chapman, Gordon Jr., Knowles and Jeffrey Davis won the event with a time of 42.70. In the 200 meter dash, Chapman placed fourth and Davis took sixth.
In the men's long jump, Knowles (6.59m) was second, followed by Gordon Jr. in third (6.55m) and DaMario Chapman in sixth (6.34m). Knowles also finished third in the high jump with a jump of 1.91 meters.
Sylvia Upthegrove placed fourth in the hammer throw with a throw of 38.72 meters. Upthegrove also added a fifth place finish in the shot put with a throw of 9.97 meters.
In the triple jump, Ashley Dubois finished second with a jump of 10.15 meters. Laura Tuttle was fourth in the event with a jump of 9.80 meters.
Welker also placed fifth in the women's javelin throw (27.32 meters). On the men's side, William Campbell was second with a throw of 41.58 meters.
Samantha Bieth won the 3000 meter steeplechase, clocking in at 11:45.76. Eryn Lewis took fifth with a time of 13:10.63. Joseph Sakel finished second on the men's side, coming in at 12:00.40.
Senior Layla Wilks took fourth in the 100 meter dash, clocking in at 13.27. On the men's side, Chapman finished second with a time of 11.45. Just behind him was Davis, clocking in at 11.51.
Dior Love placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.68.
Sophomore Becca Ross was sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:04.58.
In the men's 5000 meter run, Jayden VanMaurick was fifth with a time of 16:46.68 and Noah Flint was sixth with a time of 18:15.16.
Finally, the men's 4x400 meter relay team of Davis, Chapman, Jennings and Gordon Jr. took fourth.
The teams will be back in action next Friday at Alma College.
