Hunt seat has solid performance in Ohio

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Over the weekend, the Albion College hunt seat equestrian team competed in a pair of competitions hosted by Lake Erie College.

In Saturday's show, the Britons were named Reserve High Point Team.

On Saturday, senior Hannah DesRochers won intermediate fences. Albion got another win from Phoebe Martin, this one in open fences. Martin later went on to place fifth in open flat.

Grace Szmania placed twice for Albion. She took second in limit fences and fifth in limit flat. In novice, Albion saw Isabelle Adkins claim second and Mattison Coburn take third.

Emily Martinez ended the day fourth in intermediate flat and Katie Woerner finished fifth in limit fences.

Albion finished just two points behind champion, Findlay.

In Sunday's show, the Britons received a second place finish from Coburn in novice, who qualified for Regionals in the event. Albion took third overall as a team.

DesRochers continued her successful weekend with a second place show in intermediate fences and a fourth place finish in intermediate flat.

A pair of Albion riders placed in limit fences – Katie Dudenhoefer (second) and Woerner (fifth). Two riders also placed in novice, led by freshmen Isabelle Adkins (third) and Lucia Scouten (fifth).

Martin added a fourth and sixth place finish on Sunday (open flat, open fences).

Senior Sarah VanderKooi rounded out the weekend with a fifth place showing in limit flat.

The hunt seat team will next compete at the University of Findlay on Nov. 5 and 6.
